Now that the squad has been selected, the coaching team are now able to concentrate on getting the players ready for the upcoming season. This is when the hard work starts.
Extremely difficult. The calibre of players coming through has been extremely high so we have had to look at players not just based on their ability but also their personality, mentality and attitude as a whole.
We are a new team going into an experienced league. My expectations I will keep to myself for now but one thing I will say, I only aim high and I know that the team around me are supportive of this and whole heartedly agree with me.
I have a good coach/player relationship with most of the players as a few have previously played for me. Hopefully I will build the same rapour with any of the newer players.
The whole squad is in great shape and literally any of the players can start as we have enough strength & depth in the squad to do this..
The FA Cup is special and we are all looking forward to it. Growing up watching the FA cup was one of the reasons that I love football so to be apart of it is really something incredible. We will show the competition the upmost respect that it deserves. We hope we can entertain all of the supporters in this home draw.
Strengths are definitely our resilience and fitness levels but our team togetherness supersedes that. Every team has certain weaknesses but it’s the oppositions manager to find them. Let’s just say I will be keeping ours under wraps.
Poppy has been incredible for me over the last 2 seasons and she has left hard boots to fill. Like most things, you learn to restructure and change formation throughout the year with what you have. We are fortunate enough that we are strong in that particular area, so we are very happy and confident the players will step up and thrive in games.
Pre season has been positive, we managed to keep hold of a core set of players and add some quality. The players have been responsive the things we have asked them to so I think it has been a successful pre season.
The aim this season is really to be competitive match to match and to apply the work we do in training to our gameplay. I’m confident we will be able to do this and hope it will lead to an enjoyable season.
Really excited just to be in the competition, it’s always an honour to play in any round of the fa cup so the upcoming tie is one I am looking forward to..
We have found ourselves at a supportive club who are willing to do what they can to support the ladies and that is all we can ask for. Ultimately though it’s the players that are key to wanting to turn up and be successful.
The women’s game and even in the girls game you are able to just coach, you have the opportunity to take time developing players without fights on the touchlines and parents who have ambitions for their child that don’t match the players ability. I have been able to develop some fantastic players and this has been down to hard working players who have been given the room to understand the game and apply learning. In my opinion we prove those who question the validity and quality of the womens game wrong everyday, every week and every year.
